Summary
👤
SeniorMatthew Sheppard is a Technical Director with 18 years of experience building and leading teams that deliver enterprise content management and information retrieval systems. He combines hands-on software development—particularly Java, Spring, and search technologies—with operational leadership in SaaS, DevOps and release management across AWS and automated hosting platforms. Matthew has driven product maturity and international expansion at Funnelback, led ISO 27001 certification and solved high-impact security and performance problems that unlocked major customer deals. He mentors engineers and improves delivery through CI/CD, automated testing and modern API/SPA migrations, while still contributing code and prototypes (including deep learning QA and chatbot work). Based in Canberra, he pairs an MBA-backed product and marketing perspective with deep technical roots, and often moves between consulting, hands-on engineering and strategic architecture. An uncommon strength is his track record of turning research prototypes into production features that both win customers and reduce operating costs.
