Top SchoolMax Derhak is a Principal Scientist based in Rochester, NY with deep expertise in color science, imaging, and digital printing, combining over three decades of industry experience and an academic foundation that includes a PhD in Color Science from RIT. At Onyx Graphics (and antecedent roles at Océ), he has led research and development in C++, pattern recognition, and MFC-driven imaging systems, translating complex color management theory into production software. An active leader in the International Color Consortium—serving as Co-Chair and long-time AWG Chair—he shapes industry standards that underpin professional printing workflows. Max’s profile blends hands-on engineering with standards stewardship, making him as comfortable optimizing low-level color transforms as he is guiding interoperability across vendors. A less obvious strength is his sustained continuity at a single product ecosystem since the 1990s, which gives him rare institutional knowledge of end-to-end printing platforms and legacy-to-modern integration challenges.
