Top SchoolMayakumar Vembunarayanan is a seasoned engineering leader based in San Jose with nearly two decades of experience building and scaling distributed systems across e‑commerce, fintech, and transportation. Currently Director of Engineering at Walmart’s Transportation vertical, he has led cross‑functional organizations delivering First, Middle and Last Mile platforms and a SaaS last‑mile product, blending hands‑on architecture with team and product leadership. His background spans backend platforms, payments, identity and migration programs using a broad tech stack from Node.js, Java and Kafka to Go, Elixir and cloud datastores, enabling large‑scale, highly available systems. Known for orchestrating complex migrations (including legacy grocery stack modernizations) and spin‑up of new marketplace and delivery services, he pairs pragmatic execution with a systems‑level perspective. Colleagues appreciate that he moves fluidly between strategic roadmap decisions and code‑level tradeoffs, bringing strong domain knowledge in logistics and customer‑facing commerce systems.
