Top SchoolMcgee Young is a founder and CEO with nine years of experience building software and products that accelerate the transition to a sustainable, abundant energy future. He leads WattCarbon after serving as CTO of Recurve and holding senior product and technology roles at Open Energy Efficiency, where he helped turn energy efficiency into a smart-grid asset. Mcgee blends academic rigor—he earned a PhD in Political Science and was a tenured professor—with hands-on startup experience founding MeterHero and H2Oscore to drive water and energy savings through verified utility data and incentives. He also advises and consults on distributed energy resources and demand management, and served on the LF Energy governing board, bridging policy, product, and open-source energy ecosystems. Notably, his career reflects a pattern of creating market-facing software that quantifies and monetizes conservation, plus a knack for scaling mission-driven ventures from idea to operational programs. Based in California, he pairs scholarly analysis with practical product and CEO-level leadership to move climate-tech from concept into deployed impact.
