Top SchoolMelanie Mazanec is a software engineer with 11 years of experience building accessible, user-focused web applications for government and public-interest organizations. Currently extending Code for America’s File Your State Taxes tool for New Jersey, she brings full-stack Rails and modern front-end expertise honed through roles at civic tech consultancies and city digital teams. Melanie has led accessibility-driven redesigns, consolidated legacy code into Vue 3 apps, and introduced containerization and automated testing to teams that hadn’t used them before. Equally at home with D3 visualizations and WCAG compliance, she pairs technical craft with human-centered research from a long history of volunteer leadership at Code for America. Outside engineering she’s a musician and avid cyclist, a background that informs her collaborative, disciplined approach to complex civic problems.
