Summary
Mengda Liu is a Senior Software Engineer based in Berkeley, California with seven years of experience building large-scale systems at Meta (Facebook), where he progressed from intern to senior engineer working on polyglot ORM frameworks that serve Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus and numerous microservices. He is fluent across C++, Python, Rust and even Haskell, bringing a toolbox suited for high-performance backend services and platform-level infrastructure. Earlier internships at ByteDance and project work like ProjectLife — a hierarchical initiative-management desktop app he developed solo — show an appetite for product thinking and entrepreneurship. His background blends rigorous CS training from UC Berkeley with hands-on roles in data analysis, marketing, and operations, giving him a pragmatic, cross-functional perspective. Known for tackling challenging, language-diverse codebases, he pairs systems-level craftsmanship with a habit of shipping useful tools end-to-end.
