Top SchoolMicah Shute is a Staff Software Engineer with nine years of experience blending full-stack development, systems engineering, and program management, currently driving engineering at Northbeam. A US Naval Academy graduate and former nuclear submarine officer with prior Top Secret/SCI clearance, he brings rare operational rigor from managing reactor plants and leading teams of technicians. He pairs that discipline with advanced technical depth—a 4.0 MS in Computer and Electrical Engineering and Flatiron School full-stack training—to build reliable web applications and data solutions. Micah has transitioned complex, safety-critical domain knowledge into scalable software work at companies like Gusto and Aether Biomachines, often acting as the bridge between hardware, controls, and cloud services. Known for mentoring and cohort leadership at Flatiron School, he excels at turning ambiguous requirements into auditable, maintainable systems. Based in South Carolina, he combines military-grade process thinking with practical full-stack craft to solve hard engineering problems.
