Top SchoolMichael Bethencourt is a seasoned CTO and educator with 13 years of experience building full-stack web applications and scalable learning platforms from the Bay Area. He co-founded and grew Kickstart Coding into a sustainable business while leading development of Python/Django, Node.js, and React-based LMS and courseware that combine calendar, chat, video, and assessment systems. Equally at home in high-level architecture and low-level data work, he enjoys solving “full stack” problems where smarter JavaScript and backend data tweaks produce simple, maintainable solutions. A prolific instructor, he’s recorded 75+ hours of highly rated lectures, launched UC Berkeley Extension’s JavaScript bootcamp, and designed accessible workforce programs and laptop scholarships to broaden entry into tech. His engineering background includes performance and scaling wins at Tivix and Lucid, and early contributions to tooling at Facebook and Microsoft, reflecting a long history of practical systems thinking. He’s driven by a vision of a gleaming, Star Trek–like future and a belief that small data often matters more than people expect.
