Top SchoolMichael Bongardino is a Senior Site Reliability Engineer based in New York with a decade of experience building and operating resilient infrastructure at Betterment, where he progressed from Tech Ops Manager to Sr SRE. He blends hands-on systems administration and post-production engineering roots with modern SRE practices, giving him a practical knack for performance, backup/archival strategies, and operational scalability. Comfortable leading both day-to-day ops and strategic reliability projects, he has a history managing Apple-centric environments and complex storage systems in media and startup settings. His communication strengths—honed as a Business Genius at Apple—help him translate technical tradeoffs to nontechnical stakeholders and drive cross-team initiatives. Known internally as a “Tech Whisperer,” he combines a liberal-arts background in English with technical rigor to write clear runbooks and incident narratives. Colleagues rely on him for steady leadership during production incidents and for making infrastructure decisions that balance speed, cost, and long-term operability.
