Top SchoolMichael Cassens is a seasoned software developer and educator with over two decades of experience building maintainable business applications and teaching computer science and game development. As Associate Professor and Director of Esports at the University of Montana, he blends curriculum design—from Java and C++ to AR/VR and game engines—with hands-on leadership of a 300+ player inclusive esports program. He runs a consulting/software firm that has delivered long-lived ASP.NET/C# and SQL Server solutions for small to medium businesses, and has a history of creating developer-facing content and course reviews. Known for helping teams adopt new technologies, he pairs practical engineering skills (Unity, mobile dev, web servers) with a knack for community building and student mentorship. An environmental biology background and years of varied consulting work give him an uncommon interdisciplinary perspective on technology and pedagogy.
