Top SchoolMichael Hellwig is a director and senior scientist specializing in computational intelligence and evolutionary optimization, leading the Josef Ressel Center for Robust Decision Making while holding academic posts at FH Vorarlberg and Universität Liechtenstein. With a Diploma in Mathematics and a PhD in Computer Science, he focuses on theoretical performance analysis and practical algorithm design for Evolution Strategies in noisy, constrained, and real-world industrial problems. He builds bridges between machine learning and evolutionary computation, translating rigorous dynamical-system analyses into robust optimization tools for engineering design automation. Active in both research and teaching for nearly a decade, he combines deep theoretical insight with hands-on problem solving and a knack for tailoring algorithms to messy, applied environments.
