Top SchoolMichael Karliner is a veteran technology consultant and builder with over four decades in computing, from avionics and language design to wireless, web, and distributed systems. He combines hands-on product conception and prototyping (hardware and software) with technology strategy, architecture, and executive engineering leadership, having served as CTO at Shazam and SVP of Engineering at Voicemod. A serial founder and advisor, he has repeatedly turned early prototypes into B2B offerings and durable platforms, including ThingStudio for IoT UIs. Michael is passionate about creating and repairing high-performing engineering teams by fostering cohesive team culture and aligning technical work with business goals. Based in London, he blends startup grit from the UK and Silicon Valley with pragmatic consultancy through Modern Industry Limited. Not obvious from titles alone: his career spans both low-level avionics programming and modern cloud/real-time systems, giving him rare breadth across hardware, embedded, and web stacks.
