Top SchoolMichael Safyan is a Senior Software Engineer at Google with over a decade of experience building observability and search infrastructure, currently simplifying generation and consumption of Cloud Observability data for Google Cloud. He has led technical strategy and cross-team influence for Cloud Trace—shaping Gen AI observability, driving a reimplementation on top of Cloud Logging, and contributing to open-source Gen AI instrumentation. Comfortable across frontend and backend stacks, Michael has repeatedly improved reliability and on-call workflows, orchestrating tech-debt pauses that materially reduced noisy alerts and incident toil. He values clear, helpful collaboration and balances pragmatic tradeoffs between speed and quality, from prototyping to launched products. Based in Northbrook, Illinois, he pairs deep product knowledge in large-scale cloud systems with an engineer’s attention to craft and nuance.
