Summary
👤
SeniorMichael Turnwall is a Senior Software Engineer based in San Diego with over a decade of experience designing accessible, standards-driven web platforms and interfaces. He has led front-end engineering efforts at companies like ServiceNow and Instructure, guiding migrations to modern React patterns, introducing Cypress testing, and embedding WCAG 2.1 accessibility into component libraries. A former Front-End Architect at Mirum and an invited expert in the HTML5 working group, he blends deep web-standards expertise (HTML5/CSS) with practical leadership in mentoring, architecture, and cross-functional delivery. Notably, he’s helped architect headless Drupal migrations and taught backend teams to consume JSON APIs, showing a rare ability to bridge design, front-end systems, and API design.
