Summary
👤
SeniorMichael Welzl is a Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Oslo with over a decade of academic and research experience and a career that traces back through doctoral and postdoctoral work in Austria. He combines deep theoretical expertise with applied collaborations—most recently a visiting scholar stint at Netflix—bridging academia and industry. Known for a long-standing academic trajectory since 2009 and earlier affiliations with Swinburne and Innsbruck, he brings rigorous research, teaching, and cross-institutional mentorship to complex computing problems. Off the clock he’s a drummer, hinting at a creative, rhythm-driven approach to problem solving and a desire to invert the usual academic-first narrative.
