Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolMichiel Overtoom is a versatile software developer with 16+ years of commercial experience and a programming career stretching back to the late 1980s, combining long-term product maintenance with bespoke tooling and prototype development. Based in Groningen, he builds and maintains web, desktop and database systems that streamline complex operational workflows—scheduling, course management and inspection tooling are recurring themes in his work. His background spans low-level hardware-integrated C/C++ systems (geo-radar, sewer-inspection tooling, drill-head orientation) through Visual C++/C++Builder desktop apps to PHP/MySQL web platforms and modern web services. He runs his own software company Ovosoft while contributing as a senior developer at Learnit BV, showing both entrepreneurial initiative and deep hands-on engineering. Notably, he has often modernized legacy systems in-place—migrating and internationalizing applications rather than rewriting them—so he brings pragmatic, systems-level judgement to long-lived codebases.
