Top SchoolMickael Maison is a Senior Principal Software Engineer with 18 years of experience specializing in distributed systems, Kafka, and cloud-native operations, now based in France and currently at IBM. He is an Apache Kafka committer and chair of the Kafka PMC, contributing deep server-side expertise and documentation improvements to one of the most widely used streaming platforms. His open-source work spans critical Kafka tooling—enhancing Cruise Control, Strimzi operator code, and core Apache Kafka—plus Prometheus JVM instrumentation and Kafka client libraries in Go and Node.js. Mickael combines hands-on backend and DevOps skills with a knack for clean refactors and test-driven improvements, often modernizing legacy flows (for example removing ZooKeeper dependencies and adding TLS/AdminClient support). He has a track record of shipping robust messaging systems at enterprise scale across IBM and Red Hat, and brings uncommon cross-language experience from Java to Go and Node.js. His technical writing and documentation contributions underline a pragmatic approach: shipping reliable code while making it easier for others to operate and maintain complex systems.
