Mike Kasprzak is a veteran software engineer and entrepreneur with over two decades of hands-on experience shipping games and distributed systems across consoles, mobile, embedded devices, and server clusters. As co-founder and long-time caretaker of Ludum Dare, he built and scaled a custom social platform that supports thousands of concurrent users on low-cost VPS infrastructure while running the world’s largest online game jam. He’s led teams and small studios, acted as technical director, and repeatedly architected toolchains and deployment processes that make software portable and reliable across wildly different environments. Comfortable from low-level C++ netcode and embedded systems to PHP/MariaDB backends and modern ES6 frontends, he’s equally at home designing compilers and operator-friendly release systems. A published author and multimedia tinkerer who once won a car with a game, he playfully calls himself an “Engineer of Distractions” who builds things that entertain, educate, and bring communities together. Based in Ontario, Canada, he combines deep technical breadth with decades of product and event stewardship.
