Top SchoolMike Magruder is a seasoned software professional and mentor with three decades of development experience and a dozen years in formal industry roles spanning Microsoft and Facebook, where he served as Principal Architect, Senior SDE, and Engineering Manager. Based in Carnation, WA, he blends deep technical architecture and hands-on engineering with a passion for education—volunteering in TEALS and mentoring FIRST FTC/FRC teams to teach robotics software, hardware, CAD, and machining. He is comfortable across the stack and lifecycle, from low-level system work early in his career to leading teams and shaping architecture at scale. Mike also brings an entrepreneurial streak—running a small business for several years—and a knack for translating complex technical problems into teachable moments for students and peers. Quietly influential, he pairs decades of production experience with grassroots STEM outreach, helping cultivate the next generation of developers and engineers.
