Senior🎓
Top SchoolMike McPherson is an experienced technology leader and educator with a multi-decade career spanning university IT leadership, nonprofit network stewardship, and private technology consulting. He has held senior roles including Associate VP and Deputy CIO at the University of Virginia, Director of IT for the College of Literature, Science & the Arts at the University of Michigan, and interim CEO of Merit Network, demonstrating deep expertise in research and education networking. As President of Goozbazi LLC he translated institutional IT knowledge into consultancy work, and he now teaches in UVA’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department as an adjunct professor. Mike blends technical program management, operations, and strategic IT governance with a humanities-inflected BA and graduate work in astrophysics, an uncommon mix that supports clear communication across technical and academic stakeholders. He has a long record of building and leading mission-critical infrastructure for research institutions, and often operates at the intersection of technology, policy, and academia. Based in Virginia, he pairs institutional insight with hands-on leadership in both nonprofit and private sectors.
