Manchester, England, United Kingdom
Summary
👤
SeniorMike Smith is a seasoned software developer with over a decade of professional web experience who now focuses on backend systems in Go, building gRPC microservices and HTTP APIs for complex international sites. Currently at bet365, he’s helping migrate a large .NET codebase into Go/TypeScript microservices, having previously developed privacy-focused gRPC services at a startup. He began in front-end engineering and leadership, specialising in tooling for compliant, SEO-friendly markup and modern workflows (WordPress REST API, Roots.io, Node, AWS), and has experience mentoring small teams. Comfortable across the full stack, Mike pairs pragmatic engineering with fast hands-on delivery—he also claims the unlikely talents of guessing passwords and typing blind, hinting at a playful confidence and attention to patterns.
