Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolMitchell Nielsen is a Senior Platform Engineer with a decade of experience building cloud-native backend and platform tooling, currently advancing Prefect’s platform in Minneapolis. He has deep hands-on expertise in Kubernetes, Helm, operators, CI/CD and DevOps transformation from roles at GitLab and GE Transportation where he modernized deployment pipelines and saved substantial operational costs. Mitchell’s background blends practical product rollout experience—driving one of GE’s smoothest manufacturing system launches—with open platform engineering work on distribution tooling and cloud migrations. He moves fluidly between architecting repeatable platform components and shipping the automation that makes teams faster and more reliable. Known for translating complex infrastructure needs into pragmatic, standardized toolchains, he’s equally comfortable debugging operators as mentoring teams on best practices. Outside of core platform work, he brings a user-focused mindset from earlier product and support roles that helps bridge developer experience and operational reliability.
