Top SchoolMohammadreza Pourreza is a software engineer with five years of experience who blends research-driven problem solving with production engineering, currently contributing at Google. He moved from roles in startups and industry research—software architect at a YC-backed startup and an associate researcher at Huawei Canada—to a research internship improving Gemini's text-to-SQL capabilities before transitioning to a full engineering role. Trained in AI (BSc) and computer science (MSc) from Ferdowsi University and the University of Alberta, he focuses on ML-infused developer tooling and language-to-SQL systems. Colleagues describe him as equally comfortable prototyping novel models and hardening them for deployment, and he often bridges academia and product teams to accelerate applied research. Located in Toronto, he brings a pragmatic research mindset to building scalable, data-driven features in large-scale systems.
