Top SchoolMonika Piotrowicz is a design and engineering executive with 13+ years of hands-on experience and over a decade at Shopify leading UX, front-end development, and global product launches. She has built and scaled teams from 20 to 220 people across West Coast to APAC timezones, founding Shopify’s Front End Developer practice and the company’s first globally distributed UX team well before remote work became commonplace. At Shopify she drove UX for merchant-facing revenue drivers—Payments, Shipping, Tax, Cross-Border and Financial products—translating business goals into high-quality, measurable experiences that improved merchant growth and retention. A thoughtful practitioner who still codes, Monika pairs front-end craft with design thinking to connect marketing touchpoints through deep product workflows. She contributes to accessibility work in the open-source A11Y Project and has improved developer tooling and themes in Shopify’s Slate toolkit, signaling a commitment to inclusive, pragmatic web engineering. Based in Old Toronto, she excels at aligning cross-discipline partners and turning complex localization and growth challenges into tangible product impact.
