Mostafa Hussein is a Research Scientist II and applied scientist with a PhD in Robotics and a decade of experience building robust, safety-focused learning systems for real-world robots. He has transitioned research into industry at Amazon Robotics, developing and deploying reinforcement learning and robust imitation approaches, while continuing academic work on IRL, safe RL, and adversarial demonstration detection. His projects span from teaching robots perceptual and motion primitives (including assistive applications for children with autism) to motion planning for ocean-mapping co-robots, showing a rare blend of human-centered and fielded robotics. Based in New Hampshire, he combines deep Bayesian and bandit expertise with practical systems engineering, and has repeatedly moved novel RL algorithms from prototype to production-relevant settings.
