Senior🎓
Top SchoolMotonori Shindo is an independent technology advisor and seasoned engineering leader with decades of experience shaping networking, SDN/SD-WAN, and cloud-native ecosystems across Japan and Greater China. He has a rare track record as an early employee and technical lead at breakthrough companies (Nicira, Viptela) that were later acquired by VMware and Cisco, and has served as CTO for North Asia at VMware/Broadcom guiding product strategy for VCF and emerging AI/ML initiatives. A co-founder and former CTO of Fivefront, Motonori helped establish industry standards in flow-based telemetry (NetFlow/sFlow/IPFIX) and has repeatedly brought new network services to market—from L2TP/I Psec deployments to enterprise SD-WAN. He combines hands-on engineering (he still writes code and contributes to open source) with public thought leadership, speaking frequently at INTEROP Tokyo and Gartner events. His academic roots in physics and computer science (Rikkyo University and Carnegie Mellon) underpin a research-minded approach to practical productization of technologies like edge computing and Kubernetes. Colleagues rely on him for translating deep protocol-level insight into commercially viable platform and developer solutions.
