Natalie Milbrodt is an archivist and cultural heritage strategist with over two decades of cross-sector experience building community-led, oral history, and post-custodial archives. Currently the inaugural University Archivist at CUNY, she developed a three-year initiative to network and make accessible the university system’s rich civic history, drawing on prior work as founding Director of the Queens Memory Project. She combines hands-on metadata and digitization expertise with program design, grant development, and public-facing outreach, having managed multilingual cataloging services and digital projects for a major public library. Natalie also teaches core library science courses, serves on multiple advisory boards and metadata working groups, and consults for institutions ranging from The Frick Collection to the Internet Archive. Her background in documentary film, exhibit development, and community storytelling informs a creative, audience-centered approach to archival practice that prioritizes access and ethical stewardship.
