Top SchoolNate Smith is a seasoned technology leader and CTO with over two decades of experience building mission-driven educational software that scales—from teacher-facing tools to district-wide analytics. He founded SchoolPace, a web platform that has tracked reading progress for more than 1,000,000 students and is relied on by over 75,000 educators, and led the launch of eLibraries, a digital book subscription integrated with publisher partners. Nate blends hands-on engineering (PHP, SQL, JavaScript, Objective-C) with systems thinking—delivering CRM, ERP, BI, and disaster recovery at enterprise scale—while keeping product evolution tightly tied to educator feedback. Based in Pennsylvania, he pairs a developer’s focus on practical tooling with an ongoing interest in cloud, automation, and AI, and he approaches edtech as both a technical challenge and a personal mission as a parent.
