Senior🎓
Top SchoolNic Roland is a Technical Lead with 13 years of experience building and operating cloud-native systems, currently shaping monitoring and observability strategy at Best Buy Canada. He blends hands-on engineering in Python, Go and Linux with platform leadership—integrating Dynatrace, Elasticsearch/Kibana, Grafana/Prometheus and other tooling into the SDLC to reduce MTTR and combat alert fatigue. Nic’s background spans Kubernetes/OpenShift consulting, AWS migrations, CI/CD and automation, with a track record of turning monitoring data into actionable workflows and training product teams to own them. He is driven by curiosity and uses code to learn and automate his workflow, often prototyping side projects and contributing to developer advocacy and community events. Based in Calgary, he balances rigorous production experience with a knack for practical tooling and a playful “geek w/ god complex” sensibility that surfaces in both mentorship and hackathon collaboration.
