Senior🎓
Top SchoolNick Mcmahon is a Technical Lead with eight years of experience modernising large-scale public sector systems, currently driving a user-research-led programme to modernise over 200 FCA business functions using a strangler-fig approach. He blends hands-on engineering (Java Spring Boot, Kotlin, AWS, Kubernetes) with people leadership—mentoring security and accessibility champions, establishing operability practices, and running squad health checks to turn team issues into development opportunities. Nick has repeatedly shaped cloud platform and DevOps culture at scale, helping design an AWS Landing Zone-based platform for 800+ teams and championing automation, CI/CD simplification and developer experience. He has a strong track record of reducing incident rates and improving performance by moving legacy services to stateless, event-driven microservices and improving observability. Known for pragmatic architectural decision-making and stakeholder engagement, he pairs technical depth with an ability to translate operational needs into roadmaps and measurable service improvements. Based in Penistone, England, he brings a consistent focus on runbook maturity and operability that often goes unnoticed until systems are running smoothly in production.
