Top SchoolNick Ramsbottom is a pragmatic backend engineer and tech lead with 9 years’ experience building and scaling customer-facing systems across media and e-commerce, now working as SysDev II at AWS in London. He has driven cross-functional teams through migrations, high-traffic rewrites (including a Golang profile service handling 1k+ RPS) and platformising promotions to enable commercial self-service. Nick combines hands-on technical delivery in Node.js, TypeScript and Go with people leadership—optimising agile practices for 24 colleagues and mentoring developers to simplify complex concepts. He’s comfortable leading incident response on distributed systems and translating stakeholder needs into pragmatic roadmaps that balance scope, risk and speed. A former technical reviewer for Node.js Design Patterns (4th ed.), he brings a curious, research-informed background from a chemistry master’s at Oxford to practical engineering decisions.
