Top SchoolNick Saika is a Senior Software Engineer with 16 years of experience who transitioned from systems administration into backend and distributed systems engineering, specializing in Go for Linux and BSD environments. He focuses on architecting scalable, reliable platforms—particularly Kubernetes-related systems—while reducing operational toil through automation with tools like Ansible and Salt. Comfortable leading architectural decisions or shipping solo under tight deadlines, he brings deep familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, Cassandra/ScyllaDB, Redis, and etcd. Based in Ontario, Canada, Nick has a decade of remote work experience, is actively learning Rust, and prefers full-time engineering roles rather than management or contract work. An engineer who values decomposition and repeatability, he pairs hands-on coding with a systems mindset shaped by his admin roots.
