Top SchoolNick Wareing is a Senior Staff Infrastructure Engineer in Vancouver with 12 years of experience building data platforms, backend systems and cloud infrastructure. He started in low-level embedded and full-stack development before focusing on data engineering, governance and cost-optimized BigQuery operations at Shopify, where he led ABAC-style access control, analytics cost attribution and Dataplex extensions. Comfortable bridging engineering and product, he has run teams, hiring and onboarding while remaining hands-on with architecture, automation and observability. His background includes building embedded camera software and a production data warehouse, so he blends system-level pragmatism with cloud-scale data platform design. Notably, he pairs technical leadership with a business-minded approach to cost and discoverability that helps teams use data more effectively.
