Summary
👤
SeniorNiels Van Mourik is a pragmatic software engineer with 12 years of experience building and operating cloud and edge infrastructure, currently shaping the Acquia Cloud Edge team's roadmap in Rotterdam. A long-time open source evangelist and Drupal expert, he has moved from hands-on module development (purge/acquia_purge) to maintaining and evolving large legacy stacks and APIs that power enterprise cloud services. He blends Linux plumbing, systems engineering, and developer tooling experience—having rotated through developer tools, platform, and client advisory roles at Acquia—to deliver reliable, scalable edge caching and CI/IDE products. Colleagues know him as a computer purist and thoughtful architect who prefers practical, well-tested solutions over novelty. Notably, he returned to his former team to help design Acquia’s next-generation edge offerings, demonstrating a mix of loyalty and product-level ownership.
