Top SchoolNigel Brown is a Senior OSS Developer Advocate with 11 years of experience helping companies bridge engineering and open source communities, now at AWS after leading cloud-native advocacy at Intuit and community growth for VMware’s Kubernetes projects. He designs learning pathways, contributor programs, and open source governance—shaping policies, incubation stages, and standards that increase developer velocity and upstream engagement. Nigel pairs deep technical fluency in containers, Kubernetes, Argo, and AIOps with hands-on engineering background from IBM and research roles in performance and nanoelectronics. Unusually, his career blends pro audio expertise—including work on a Grammy-winning album—and high-performance compute container benchmarking, giving him a pragmatic, multidisciplinary perspective on developer experience. Based in Austin, he regularly mentors contributors, chairs CFP and speaker prep initiatives, and has contributed to Kubernetes SIGs and release work.
