Top SchoolNikesh Balami is a civic tech entrepreneur and CEO with 11 years of experience championing open knowledge, data-driven governance, and community-led tech initiatives from Kathmandu. As co-founder and leader of Open Knowledge Nepal, he combines program strategy, data harvesting, and occasional hands-on coding to translate open data into actionable civic tools and policy engagement. His background bridges computer engineering and social work, enabling him to steward multi-stakeholder partnerships across NGOs, government, and international networks like the Open Knowledge Foundation and Open Data Charter. Nikesh’s profile is marked by recurring roles in capacity building and grassroots tech mobilization—he’s equally at home running hackathons, writing research reports, or scraping government datasets to fill transparency gaps. Notably, he also helps institutionalize internet governance and alumni networks in Nepal, reflecting a pattern of turning community advocacy into formalized impact.
