Top SchoolOctavian R is a seasoned software engineer with 13 years of professional experience and a 21-year history working with Java across JSE and JEE environments. He has designed and delivered high-throughput, event-driven microservices for large e-commerce and travel platforms using Kafka, Flink, and cloud-native tooling (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, Docker). As a technical lead and senior engineer at companies including Adevinta, eBay, bol.com and now Booking.com, he blends hands-on backend development in Java, Go and Python with platform-level concerns like observability, resilience and scalable streaming. His background spans banking-grade payments and security systems to large-scale chat and moderation pipelines, demonstrating strong domain adaptability. Comfortable operating across the stack—from databases like Cassandra, Bigtable and DynamoDB to reactive frameworks and streaming pipelines—he’s known for turning complex, real-time requirements into reliable production services. Based in Amsterdam, he brings pragmatic architectural judgment combined with a persistent focus on operational excellence.
