Top SchoolOliver Ortlieb is a serial startup CTO and engineer with 11 years of experience building hardware-software products and digital factories from the ground up. He’s co-founded multiple companies—most recently Ultra—and previously led engineering at Y Combinator-backed ventures including Voodoo Manufacturing and Layer By Layer, combining production-scale 3D printing operations with consumer-facing software. Comfortable spanning full-stack systems, embedded tooling, and production pipelines, he has shipped end-to-end solutions like 3D scanning apps, statistical models for custom manufacturing, and factory GUIs. Based in New York, he brings a pragmatic founder’s mindset to technical leadership and enjoys solving engineering problems where software meets physical products. Notably, he’s built both the software ecosystems and the physical factories needed to turn unique SKUs into scalable manufacturing.
