Senior🎓
Top SchoolOrion Kindel is a hands-on engineering leader and founder with 11 years of experience building scalable, high-performance systems across backend, full-stack, infrastructure, and AI domains. Currently a Software Engineer II at CollegeVine, he has repeatedly served as CTO and co-founder, shipping type-safe, production-ready platforms in Purescript and Rust while championing event-driven architectures and rigorous database design. He pairs deep functional-programming expertise (Haskell, Purescript) with practical systems work in Rust, Python, and JavaScript to deliver reliable, observable, and automated cloud-native infrastructure. Orion is an active open-source maintainer and community organizer in the Rust and FP ecosystems—creator of libraries like toad-lib and purescript-postgresql—and he accelerates teams by rapidly onboarding junior engineers into functional paradigms. Known for turning research-grade ideas into production with minimal tech debt, he also brings experience reducing costs and improving stability at scale through pragmatic DevOps and CI/CD practices. Based in Chicago, he seeks mission-driven work that advances open-source, accessibility, and ethical technology.
