Top SchoolOwein Reese is a hands-on VP of Engineering with 14 years of experience building and leading multi-disciplinary teams across startups and enterprise environments in New York. He combines deep technical craftsmanship—from C++ and Scala systems to cloud-native pipelines—with pragmatic operational ownership, including security, data governance, and SOC2 accreditation. Owein has repeatedly balanced hiring and team growth with product delivery, scaling organizations from small engineering groups to large distributed teams while keeping a focus on reliability and SLAs. His background spans high-performance scientific and financial systems through to large-scale ad tech and HR integrations, giving him uncommon fluency across numerical algorithms, data pipelines, and user-facing platforms. He still enjoys the applied math side of engineering—holding an M.S. in Industrial Mathematics—and brings that analytical rigor to architectural decisions and performance tuning.
