Pat Sweeney is a Principal Software Engineer based in Redmond with deep expertise in 3D computer graphics, computer vision, and GPU/GPGPU systems, applied across consumer products, games, and research platforms. Over a multi-decade Microsoft career he led graphics teams on AAA XBox titles like Forza and architected a SIGGRAPH-published free-viewpoint holographic video system that spans reconstruction, compression, and playback. He combines hands-on mastery of Modern C++, C#, DirectX/Metal and shader programming with proven leadership mentoring both junior and senior engineers. Currently contributing to Microsoft Research’s Perception and Interaction Group, he bridges cutting-edge research (Situated Intelligence) and production-quality engineering. An uncommon strength is his end-to-end experience from low-level rendering and PostScript-level rendering engines to large-scale AR/VR and media playback pipelines across Windows, macOS, Unix and phone platforms.
