Paul Read is a retired IBM product introduction manager with over three decades of hands-on experience in data management, cognitive computing, and developer engagement, now volunteering and building robotics projects from his base in Fareham. At IBM he led beta programs for DB2 and Watson, ran hackathons and residencies, and authored educational materials and Redbooks that bridged complex platform capabilities to developer communities. Today he combines charity driving with running robotics, AI and machine learning sessions for schools, building and programming bots, drones and droids to inspire the next generation. Comfortable both in legacy enterprise systems and modern cloud/AI toolchains, he brings practical expertise in technical consultancy, training and program management. An avid badminton player and lifelong tinkerer, he still codes and prototypes hardware—an educator who turns professional-grade platforms into hands-on learning experiences.
