Top SchoolPaulo Filimone is a Mozambique-based software engineer and CEO with 11 years of experience building data-driven systems for public health and demographic surveillance. He is the creator of HDS-Explorer, a multilingual, open-source HDSS platform (server + Android) designed to replace legacy tools and support complex household, institutional, and longitudinal study needs. His work bridges hands-on development, field deployment, and capacity buildingโmigrating HDSS sites across Africa and training local teams to use and customize the platform. Paulo combines product-minded engineering with practical data workflows (sync, validation, rollback, custom ID schemes), enabling reliable data collection in low-resource settings. He has consulted on national immunization and disease programs, bringing technical solutions to policy and operational decision-making. Beyond code, he champions accessible open-source software that directly improves research and public health outcomes.
