Peter Simon is a retired antenna engineer and software engineer in Camarillo, California, with over 12 years of software experience layered on a multi-decade career designing satellite and RF antenna systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Computational Electromagnetics from UC Santa Barbara and authored custom engineering design software and numerical tools used for feed horns, phased arrays, Rotman lenses, polarizers and other complex RF subsystems. At Space Systems Loral he was a Distinguished Engineer who combined commercial EM tools with homegrown code, earning multiple patents including a novel feed-horn design optimization method. Now focused on open-source development in Julia, he brings deep physics-first expertise to scientific software and a practitioner’s understanding of bridging simulation, optimization, and practical hardware constraints.
