Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolPetr Van Blokland is a veteran designer-educator and studio owner with over four decades shaping type design, corporate identities, interiors and web applications. He combines hands-on practice—running Buro Petr van Blokland + Claudia Mens and founding DesignDesign.Space & TYPETR—with long-term academic leadership at The Royal Academy of Art and AKV|St.Joost, mentoring Bachelor and Master graphic design students. A maker of design tools and developer of design theory, he specializes in "designing the design process" and experiments with Live Design Games that blur teaching, software and practice. His career bridges commercial work (The Font Bureau, RTL) and cultural leadership (ATypI board), reflecting rare depth across craft, systems and pedagogy. Based in Delft, he’s quietly influential: few peers combine typeface production, custom tooling and curriculum-building at this scale.
