Pierre Salvy is a CTO who blends deep computational biology research with product-grade engineering to design and manufacture novel proteins and polymers at industrial scale. At Cambrium he built and now runs the closed-loop AI-to-biology platform that shipped NovaColl, a recombinant collagen peptide, to multi-tonne commercial customers—arguably one of Europe’s fastest biotech material launches. Trained at Mines ParisTech and EPFL (Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow), his PhD produced widely-cited modeling tools and generative kinetic models published in Nature journals and released as open-source toolkits. He scaled bio-production problems earlier at the Amyris–Total partnership, bringing practical experience in purity, cost, and scale-up that directly informs Cambrium’s engineering and lab operations. Pierre uniquely straddles wet lab, machine learning, and cloud infrastructure, running technical partnerships with NVIDIA, Google, Benchling, and Ginkgo while leading technical due diligence for fundraising. Based in Berlin, he joined Cambrium as the second employee and has grown the platform and team from research prototype to production.
