Top SchoolPradeeban Kathiravelu is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Alaska Anchorage with 16 years of experience at the intersection of distributed systems, networking, and biomedical informatics. His work blends academic rigor and practical systems engineering—spanning SDN, network softwarization, and large-scale workflow orchestration for radiology and neuroscience pipelines across research clusters and multi-clouds. He led research optimizing wide-area connectivity for telehealth access and equity in rural Alaska and other healthcare deserts, translating distributed-computing insights into real-world healthcare impact. A PhD and Erasmus Mundus-trained researcher who served as a postdoc and senior systems software engineer at Emory, he has a strong open-source track record including leadership in OpenDaylight and long-term mentoring in Google Summer of Code. Pradeeban also applies his expertise to circumpolar science and Alaska Native studies, showing a rare commitment to place-based computing challenges. Colleagues describe him as a hands-on researcher who moves from protocol and middleware design to deployable systems that improve access to care.
