Top SchoolRachel Nehmer is a Founding Staff Software Engineer based in Portland, Oregon with 11 years of professional software experience and a background that spans research labs, startups, and major platforms. She has built production-facing features and infrastructure at GitHub—helping combat abuse at scale and shipping foundational capabilities for Projects—and most recently led systems and monitoring work for wildfire detection at the University of Oregon. Comfortable across full-stack, platform, and geospatial tooling, Rachel has delivered everything from mobile spatial SDKs to complex Ruby on Rails migrations and scalable automation/webhook systems. Her career shows a steady thread of turning research and legacy systems into maintainable, production-quality services, and she brings hands-on execution to early-stage product and infrastructure challenges as a founding engineer.
