Summary
🤩
RockstarRafael M is a Senior Software Engineer based in Austin with 11 years building high-impact Android products and platform improvements at companies from startups to scale-ups. He’s shipped features and led migrations at Clubhouse and Instacart—reducing build times, modernizing stacks (Android 14, KSP, Compose), and coordinating cross-platform design standardization for multi-million-user apps. At Big Nerd Ranch he taught Kotlin bootcamps and led Kotlin-first refactors that bridged legacy Java systems to modern code, and earlier roles gave him backend and DevOps exposure (Scala/Python, Kubernetes, gRPC). Comfortable as both IC and tech lead, he combines hands-on engineering with developer productivity work and a knack for breaking large projects into parallel streams. Notably, he’s flown nationwide to train engineers and has experience integrating Android into unusual hardware (BeagleBone/UART-I2C), reflecting a practical curiosity beyond typical app development.
