Top SchoolRafael Sperb is an experienced project manager and academic specializing in marine conservation, geoinformation and environmental technology, currently leading the REVIMAR action at Brazil’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. With a PhD in Applied Intelligence/Production Engineering and a master’s in Environmental Science & Technology from IHE Delft, he combines deep scientific training with decades of hands-on P&D in WebGIS, spatial data infrastructures and environmental monitoring systems. He built and led award-winning research software teams at UNIVALI, spun off GeoSapiens, and developed national-scale systems such as SITAMAR and a vessel-tracking platform for the Brazilian government. As a university researcher and former course director, he blends teaching, large-project coordination and policy engagement to turn complex environmental requirements into operational information systems. Since 2020 he has also reoriented practical R&D toward regenerative agroecology and integrative animal medicine on his family’s certified-organic 41-hectare property, reflecting a rare melding of digital and hands-on conservation practice.
